Neck Pain Treatment

From stiff necks to nerve pain down the arm

Neck pain sits at the crossroads of posture, stress, sleep, and screens — which is why it rarely goes away by ignoring it. Whether yours is a stiff neck that turns your whole torso to check a blind spot, or pain radiating into the shoulder blade and arm, physical therapy addresses the joints, muscles, and nerves driving it.

What we treat

  • Chronic stiffness and loss of motion
  • Desk- and posture-related pain
  • Cervical radiculopathy — pain, numbness, or tingling into the arm
  • Whiplash after car accidents
  • Cervicogenic headaches

What treatment looks like

Hands-on joint mobilization and soft-tissue work restore motion and calm irritated tissue; targeted strengthening of the deep neck and mid-back muscles rebuilds the support system; and specific nerve-glide exercises address arm symptoms. Because sessions are one-on-one, your therapist can work carefully around an irritable neck — no cookie-cutter protocols.

Common questions

My arm tingles — is that serious?
Arm symptoms mean a nerve is irritated, most often where it exits the neck. Most cases improve with conservative care, but worsening weakness or numbness deserves prompt evaluation — we’ll tell you honestly if you need a physician first.
Can PT help headaches?
If headaches start at the base of your skull and are linked to neck stiffness, they’re often cervicogenic — and respond well to manual therapy plus targeted strengthening.
What pillow should I use?
The one that keeps your neck neutral for your sleep position. Your therapist gives specific guidance — it matters less than daytime habits, but it’s an easy win.
