Post-Surgical Rehab

Structured recovery after orthopedic surgery

Surgery is half the outcome — rehab is the other half. StepWell provides structured, protocol-driven recovery after joint replacements, rotator cuff repairs, ACL reconstruction, spinal surgery, and foot and ankle procedures. We follow your surgeon’s protocol, communicate with their office, and progress you as fast as your tissue healing safely allows — no faster, no slower.

Surgeries we commonly rehab

  • Total knee and total hip replacement
  • Rotator cuff repair and shoulder replacement
  • ACL and other knee ligament reconstruction
  • Meniscus and labral repairs
  • Spinal fusion and discectomy recovery
  • Foot, ankle, and Achilles procedures

How post-op care works at StepWell

Your first visits focus on protecting the repair — swelling control, safe range of motion, and getting you moving confidently at home. From there we rebuild strength and normal movement patterns in phases, checking measurable milestones against your surgeon’s protocol at each stage. Because every visit is one-on-one with your PT, nothing about your recovery runs on autopilot.

Start before surgery if you can

“Prehab” — a short course of PT before your operation — is one of the best predictors of a smooth recovery. Stronger going in means faster coming out. If your surgery is scheduled, ask us about a pre-op visit.

Common questions

How soon after surgery should PT start?
It depends on the procedure — some start within days, others after a few weeks of protected healing. We follow your surgeon’s protocol and can coordinate directly with their office.
Will you communicate with my surgeon?
Yes. We send progress updates at the intervals your surgeon requests and flag anything that needs their attention early.
What should I bring to my first post-op visit?
Your surgical paperwork or protocol if you were given one, your insurance card, and comfortable clothes that give access to the surgical area.
